Just a wink of sleep on Venti's terms really. Barely even a catnap. ]

[ There's a flicker of relief in his expression, but it's brief, the frown quickly returning. ]

[ Zhongli reaches up to his own throat and traces an x there.

He even mouths the words "I can't" but no sound comes out. ]

[ He nods with a careless shrug of his shoulders before plucking a piece of fanmail off of Venti's person. ]

[ Doesn't seem too bothered by it. In 3,700 years someone in Teyvat probably wrote fanfiction or drew fanart about them. So the only question remains, is it good?

Zhongli seems to find it pleasing to the eye at any rate as he sets it carefully on the table.

Ah, yes, drinking that is what he came here to do.

With half an eyeroll, he reclaims his cup and starts taking slow languid sips just like what he was doing before Venti woke up. ]

[ He shifts on the bed so that his legs dangle over the side, swaying lightly. ]

He just barely stifles a lap as he yanks Zhongli down. Giving him no choice but to deposit his drunk head in Venti's lap. ]

Just relax for now. The problems out there can wait for later.

[ He doesn't even fight being pulled into Venti's lap - just shuffles his limbs so he's in a more comfortable position.

And then waves one hand dramatically as if to say:

"What do you think I was doing? As if I wasn't taking refuge from everything in here."

He just didn't think Venti would wake up. He'd at least figured it be a month minimum before he did. ]

I don't know what that meant, but I assume it was sarcastic.

[ Don't mind him while he casually starts braiding Zhongli's hair. ]

Ehe, really, this isn't so unlike how you were a few thousand years ago, all grunts and glares.

Zhongli doesn't have even has his normal fortitude to deal with this without making an idiot of himself. So. He just buries his face in Venti's lap to hide his blush and pretend that none of this is even happening. ]

[ Tittering above him, fingers threading through Zhongli's bangs. Oblivious to his struggles. ]

Without giving up his hiding spot, he blindly reaches for Venti's face with one hand to give him a shove. ]

[ The knee jerk reaction to something wet and slimy touching him is to make a truly undignified yelp and go tumbling to the floor. ]

This is an even better reaction than Venti anticipated.
